Coke Studio is a Indian music television series which features live studio-recorded music performances by various artists. The show is produced by the Coca Cola company and MTV. Starting in 2011, Coke Studio has been popular throughout the country and receives critical acclaim. It is one of the most popular music programmes in Asia. We designed a concept for an Augmented Reality enabled Mobile App for Coke Studio Season 3.

The concept of this Augmented Reality(AR) app is to make an AR enabled two dimensional picture to be scanned and play corresponding video. There are two modes to the app – Augment mode and App mode. Augment mode enables camera and scans. The two modes had to be very intuitive and Augment mode needed to have some assisted help as this is a new concept and there is a learning curve for first time users. IN THE APP MODE, TO CHOOSE WHICH SINGER TO PLAY – BRILLIANTLY THE CIRCLES WITH THE SINGER’S PICTURE WERE USED AND THE COKE BOTTLE IN THE CENTER ACTED AS THE SELECTION POINTER . THIS IDEA WAS AN INSTANT HIT! We had to ensure that the branding guidelines of Coke are followed and also since it is a Music app, the Coke brand should be subtle so that it does not interfere with the user’s experience. We ensured that the singers were shown as celebrities and had larger than life presence conveyed in the app. Also, the browse experience to get details about a singer and/or song without losing the context was handled by using the top half of the screen to have the song and the bottom half had tabbed approach. THE VISUAL DESIGN WAS CHOSEN TO BE VERY LIVELY AND EXUBERANT SYNONYMOUS TO THE COKE STUDIO LISTENERS
